Swiss trams running without overhead wire
A stand-by source with 540 V traction and 1,500 V heating rectifiers.
On the Čiernohronská forest railway we worked with local enthusiasts to bring Swiss trams back to life — they now move under their own power, without an overhead wire.
The stand-by source is a CAT generator set with a power switchboard, controls and rectifiers we designed: 540 V for traction and 1,500 V for heating and auxiliary drives. The first test runs were successful.
